It’s recently been pointed out by various text messages on the Aether-Net that I’ve apparently lost contact with modern art. I usually say “brilliant fucking observation ya Mervin’s” and immediately take my Henry Miller Action Figure back so I can do important stuff like spending hours researching dead pornographers of the 1920’s that nobody ever heard of. Or burning my corneas out with over-saturated LSD fueled album covers.
But just to prove that I’m not completely stuck in an era of naked flappers and opium dens – or naked hippies and Grateful Dead concerts (the two actually merge almost seamlessly, at least in my reality) – here’s some current “lowbrow” coolness:
the Wolfman, Tyson McAdoo spent his younger years leaping and howling
in the dark woods of Carlisle. At age 18 his talents of corn dog
sculpture garnered the attention of the Joe Kubert School of Cartooning
and Graphic Arts. Upon graduation in ’99 he was tormented by society for
his wolfish ways. He found solace within the walls of Marvel, DC,
Wildstorm and Dark Horse comics.”
After graduating from The Joe Kubert School of Cartooning and Graphic Arts, illustrator Tyson McAdoo
began working for Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Dark Horse, and Cartoon
Network. McAdoo spent several years in the cartoon and comic business
before deciding to leave the industry and begin his own line of
dangerously seductive art, depicting unconventional yet
classically-inspired modern day pin-ups.
(from Juxtapose)
“We have yet to find an artist who can thoroughly blend yesterdays
vintage pin-up girl with today’s relentlessly seductive and independent
women as well as he can. McAdoo sketches exquisite comic style pin-up
girls in erotic stilettos and sexy lingerie. He blesses each of his
beautiful creations with eyes of mystery and the alluring gaze of
larceny.” – ConvictedArtist Magazine
create lascivious pictures of her, surviving only on chipmunk feet and
code red. Do not try to rescue him as he is guarded by sea monsters and
the gaseus messer toe. His only companions are two pathetic ghetto rats
Squeezie and Pocket.”
