There are various opinions regarding using abandoned buildings / post-industrial settings as backgrounds: the philosophical points (i.e., comparisons between life & death / youth &decay etc.) have certainly become cliches. Nonetheless, there is a rich amalgam of texture, color and contrast available in these places and that’s a driving factor. The genre has gained a lot of popularity with the advent of urban exploration (“urbex”) and has definitely been overblown, but here are a few shots I particularly like.
