Photographia Erotica Historica- Goliath Books
I don’t usually do commercial endorsements, but I think this is pretty cool and worth a mention.
Once upon a time, before there were copies of Hustler on the newsstands or 24/7 access to any kind of porn imaginable on the internet, people bought most of their dirty pictures printed on “French Postcards“. For the more discerning collectors of photographic erotica, discreet miniature books began to appear in the last few decades of the 19th century.
These were portable and easy to hide, pocket-sized volumes often bound in fine leather. Many are now collectors’ items, with prices ranging from a few hundred to many thousands of US dollars.
Matt Elliot with Goliath Books recently contacted me about a miniature book they’ve released intended to reproduce these collectable volumes. “Photographia Erotica Historica” is a 1¾” by 2¼” (4,5 x 5,6 cm) leather-bound miniature book with over 380 pages and 200 vintage photos, gold embossed, and filled with “photographic obscenities” from the turn of the century.
